This film is nominated for the NETPAC Award for Best Asian-Pacific Film.

Inspired by the personal experiences of Director Heather Tsui and her involvement with the the Yami people, LONG TIME NO SEA explores themes of indigenous identity and family traditions. A pair of new shoes, a cross-sea competition, and a tribesman of oceans are interwoven with a story of a child's emotional courage in pursuit of dreams. The film was 6 years in the making and is part love letter to the Yami people and a coming-of-age story with universal appeal.
