Half-Japanese Mari Hirakawa (a fantastic Stephy Tang) is the daughter of a Karate coach. Since her childhood, she has resented Karate--her only wish to one day sell her father’s beloved dojo to turn the space into cash-cow room rentals. But following his sudden death, she discovers that half of the dojo has been left to an estranged star pupil, Chan Keung (Chapman To).
Whilst Mari may despise karate, Chan greatly revered her father and wants to revive the struggling dojo. When he not only invites new pupils to join the dojo, but also moves into the space (which adjoins Mari’s apartment) things begin to escalate between the too. However, Chan has a unique proposition for Mari--if she is able to train and win a match in a martial arts competition, he will give her his share of the property to do with what she wishes…
The sophomore directorial effort from veteran Hong Kong actor Chapman To, THE EMPTY HANDS is an uplifting sports drama for all ages.
